Sunshine Village Ski Area Long Range Plan

Public Engagement Process - Draft Terms of Reference for the Detailed Impact Assessment

The Sunshine Village Ski Area is preparing a Long Range Plan to guide future development and use at the ski area in Banff National Park. Parks Canada has developed a draft Terms of Reference for the Detailed Impact Assessment to support this process. The Terms of Reference describes Parks Canada’s expectations and parameters for the completion of the Detailed Impact Assessment, including an outline of the proposed engagement process. At this time, we are seeking public review and comment on the draft Terms of Reference for the Detailed Impact Assessment.

Parks Canada strongly believes that land use and development decisions in national parks should be open and transparent and reflect the priorities and perspectives of Canadians. Public and Indigenous review and comment will help Parks Canada ensure sustainable land use management at the Sunshine Village Ski Area for years to come.

The Terms of Reference are available for comment from July 23 - August 23, 2021. After which, Sunshine Village Ski Area will prepare a Detailed Impact Assessment of its proposed Long Range Plan. Parks Canada and the Sunshine Village Ski Area will reach out to the public to engage on the draft Long Range Plan and draft Detailed Impact Assessment. Check back here for more details after August 23, 2021.
