New Justice Appointed to the Ontario Court of Justice

Attorney General Doug Downey announced the appointment of a new justice to the Ontario Court of Justice, effective August 26, 2021.

Justice Stephen Darroch was called to the bar in 2002. He joined the litigation group at McCarthy Tétrault LLP in 2017, where he assisted physicians with medical-related legal issues, including criminal law matters and professional discipline matters. Prior to that, he led his own criminal defence practice in association with Daley, Byers in southern Ontario for 11 years.

Justice Darroch volunteered through Pro Bono Ontario and the Unaccompanied Minors Project, assisting children who arrive in Canada without status. He was a guest instructor at the intensive trial advocacy workshop at York University, Osgoode Professional Development for the past seven years.

Chief Justice Lise Maisonneuve has assigned Justice Darroch to London.
