We are consulting Canadians on the proposal to require federally regulated employers to provide menstrual products in the workplace. This initiative aims to:

  • ensure access to menstrual products for federally regulated employees to reduce the following:
    • physical and psychological health risks
    • the prevalence of harassment and violence in the workplace, and
    • the prevalence of missed work due to a lack of access to menstrual products
  • support our commitments to gender equity

Who is the focus of this consultation

We invite all Canadians to participate in this consultation, including:

  • federally regulated employers and employees
  • members of the 2SLGBTQ+ community
  • persons with disabilities
  • persons identifying as First Nations, Inuk (Inuit), Métis or Indigenous
  • all Canadians

Key questions for discussion

The survey aims to collect information on the following issues:

  • providing menstrual products in in-office, non-traditional, and remote workplaces, including mobile employees
  • the method of dispensing menstrual products in federally regulated workplaces
  • the need for providing educational materials alongside this policy
