Petition to the House of Commons
  Whereas:

    Canada’s natural resources, such as food resources, lumber, pulp, and oil,  are predominantly processed and profited from by foreign corporations, leaving  Canadians with limited economic benefits and fewer job opportunities;
    Public ownership of resource processing facilities would strengthen  Canada’s economic sovereignty, create sustainable jobs, and ensure that profits  remain within Canada to benefit its citizens;
    Heavy reliance on trade with the United States makes Canada complicit in  supporting policies and actions that undermine human rights and global stability,  while also exposing our economy to unnecessary risk; and
    Diversifying trade partnerships and building infrastructure for resource  processing in Canada will ensure long-term prosperity, economic stability, and  alignment with Canadian values.

    We, the undersigned, citizens of Canada, call upon the House of Commons to take immediate steps to develop and implement a plan for public ownership and infrastructure to process Canada’s natural resources, including food resources, lumber, pulp, and oil, within Canada to ensure economic sovereignty and long-term prosperity for all Canadians.
