Current status: Open
Opened on March 01, 2021 and will close to new input on March 22, 2021.
This consultation is seeking comments on the draft Policy on Fisheries Act Permits for Shark Fin Import and Export for Scientific Research.
Fisheries and Oceans Canada is seeking input on the permitting policy for the import and export of shark fins not attached to a shark carcass for scientific research supporting shark conservation. This policy implements the changes made to Section 32 of the Fisheries Act in June 2019. The input gathered through this process will be used to validate or improve the draft policy which sets out the requirements applicants must meet when requesting a permit from the Minister of Fisheries and Oceans Canada to import or export shark fin(s) for scientific research. The input will also support the efficient implementation of the permitting process for both the permit applicants and Fisheries and Oceans Canada.
