Kerr-Sulphurets-Mitchell Mine Exemption
Regulation

Definitions

1   In this regulation:

"Act" means the Utilities Commission Act;

"Kerr-Sulphurets-Mitchell mine project" means the mine project located approximately 65 km northwest of the District of Stewart;

"Northwest Transmission Line" means the 287 kilovolt transmission line between the Skeena substation and the Bob Quinn substation;

"Orenda repeater station" means the repeater station located approximately 16 km southeast of Meziadin Junction;

"Treaty Creek Terminal switching station" means the proposed switching station to be located approximately 70 km northeast of the District of Stewart and approximately 70 km south of the Bob Quinn substation.

Exemption — discontinuance

2   The authority is exempt from section 41 of the Act in respect of ceasing the operation of the Orenda repeater station.

Exemption — certificate of public convenience and necessity

3   The authority is exempt from section 45 (5) of the Act in respect of the following extensions of the authority's system required to provide service to the Kerr-Sulphurets-Mitchell mine project or to enable construction of the Kerr-Sulphurets-Mitchell mine project:

(a) the addition of the Treaty Creek Terminal switching station, including an interconnection with the Kerr-Sulphurets-Mitchell mine project's transmission line;

(b) a new transmission line between the Treaty Creek Terminal switching station and the Northwest Transmission Line;

(c) upgrades at the Skeena substation;

(d) upgrades at the Bob Quinn substation.
