The Accessible Canada Act came into force in July 2019. The goal of the Act is to identify, remove and prevent barriers to accessibility. This includes introducing a new approach to our understanding of disability and barriers.

The Act, together with “An Accessibility Strategy for the Public Service”, upholds the “Nothing Without Us” principle. This means that persons with disabilities must be consulted when identifying barriers, and in any planning for how to remove and prevent them.

Together, we can take steps for improved accessibility at Veterans Affairs Canada and the Veterans Review and Appeal Board.

Thank you for your input!
