Day of Persons with Disabilities: Minister Luan
2021-12-03

“Albertans with disabilities are creative, innovative and valuable contributors to society.

“Alberta’s government is proud to recognize Dec. 3 as International Day of Persons with Disabilities.

“This day is about increasing awareness and understanding of people with disabilities in Alberta while celebrating the unique contributions they make to our society as a whole.

“Alberta’s government is committed to ensuring people with disabilities live full lives with dignity and equal opportunities, and I am proud of how we embrace diversity in this province. We all benefit from a diverse and inclusive society that supports the choices of Albertans with disabilities. Their unique perspectives contribute to creating stronger communities in which everyone can participate and contribute without any barriers.

“We all have a role to play in the success of our province. Together with our community partners, we’re working to create a more inclusive and welcoming environment for all Albertans.

“Every year, the Premier’s Council on the Status of Persons with Disabilities Awards are presented to individuals, groups and organizations across Alberta to recognize the achievements of leaders in the disability community.

“I would like to congratulate this year’s recipients for their outstanding work in building barrier-free, inclusive communities for everyone, along with supporting people with disabilities throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.

“As we recover from the pandemic, we continue to protect the lives and livelihoods of Albertans. Everyone, no matter their ability or circumstances, deserves the opportunity to make meaningful contributions within our communities.

“We will support vulnerable Albertans to live safe and healthy lives during this challenging time. Alberta’s government continues to provide services and supports to help Albertans meet their daily needs, live independently and access necessary supports in their communities.”
