TORONTO — Today, Minister Steve Clark, Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing issued the following statement regarding the Ontario Housing Affordability Summit:

“To allow leaders of all levels to support their communities as we work together to respond to the evolving public health situation, our government is postponing the Ontario Housing Affordability Summit until January 19, 2022.

This new date will enable us to align the summit with our meeting with rural, remote and northern municipalities and set a strong foundation ahead of the Rural Ontario Municipal Association (ROMA) conference from January 23 to 25.

Addressing housing affordability is a critical priority for our government as we build on our progress to make it easier for more Ontarians to find a home that meets their needs and budget.

Our government’s ongoing collaboration with municipalities complements our other efforts as we continue to address the housing crisis. This includes our online consultation seeking valuable public input at Ontario.ca/HousingAffordability, as well as our Housing Affordability Task Force, which will provide us with expert recommendations to address market housing supply and affordability.

Everyone has a role to play in addressing Ontario’s housing crisis. These consultations will help our government identify and implement additional measures with our partners to help make the dream of home ownership a reality for more Ontarians.”
