Petition to the Government of Canada
  Whereas:

    Missing and murdered Indigenous women, girls and two-spirit is an ongoing genocide in Canada, as declared in the Final Report of the National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls, released on June 3, 2019;
    The National Inquiry evidence demonstrates human rights and Indigenous rights abuses and violations committed and condoned by the Canadian state which deny Indigenous women, girls and two-spirit their safety, security and human dignity; and
    These abuses and violations are the root causes of the colonial violence against Indigenous women, girls and two-spirit that force them to confront daily violence, harm and trauma, while perpetrators remain unaccountable.

    We, the undersigned, Canadian citizens and residents, and residents of Turtle Island, call upon the Government of Canada to:
    1. Acknowledge that there is an ongoing genocide of Indigenous women, girls and two-spirit in Canada;
    2. Make a permanent and immediate commitment to end the genocide of Indigenous women, girls and two-spirit, as recommended in the 231 Calls for Justice, focusing on equality, human rights and Indigenous in a decolonizing approach;
    3. Develop a national action plan in partnership with Indigenous Peoples to address violence against Indigenous women, girls and two-spirit by implementing and enforcing the 231 Calls for Justice;
    4. Fulfill its legal obligation to ensure that Indigenous women, girls and two-spirit live in dignity, so that Indigenous Peoples have the same safety, security, respect and human rights that non-Indigenous people have; and
    5. Honour and respect the self-determination of Indigenous Peoples as they determine, lead and govern their own solutions and services.
