Sharing best practices for digital innovation
2022-06-30

Minister Glubish will travel to Estonia and the U.K. from July 3-9 to meet with officials leading each government’s innovation and digitization initiatives.

Each of these countries is renowned as a world leader in digital innovation, with insights that can help inform similar modernization initiatives underway within Alberta’s government.

Among the topics for discussion during the week-long mission are designing simpler and faster digital services, building digital capability and infrastructure, and public sector innovation.

Alberta’s government is harnessing the power of technology to deliver better outcomes for citizens, from predicting wildfires to improving access to the justice system, and from bringing more registry services online to addressing bottlenecks in the health-care system. Lessons learned on this mission will build upon the government’s work to promote digital innovation that includes the revolutionary public sector artificial intelligence lab, Govlab.ai, announced earlier this year.

Minister Glubish will be accompanied by his chief of staff and an official from Service Alberta.

Mission expenses will be posted on the travel and expense disclosure page.

“Alberta’s government must be at the forefront of taking advantage of emerging technologies so we can continue to offer Albertans secure, sustainable, high-quality services that respect their hard-earned tax dollars and their right to privacy. Modernizing the way we work is essential to becoming the efficient public service Albertans deserve, and learning from the success stories of other jurisdictions will help us achieve that.”

Nate Glubish, Minister of Service Alberta
