NIAGARA – Team New Brunswick’s women’s beach volleyball team will play for a bronze medal Saturday at the 2022 Canada Summer Games in Niagara.

The beach volleyballers face off against British Columbia in an afternoon tilt on the last day of week one competition at the Canada Games. Team New Brunswick enters Saturday’s competition with 10 medals in the standings.

Men’s and women’s basketball and tennis are the other teams competing Saturday.

Men’s basketball will play for fifth place against Quebec Saturday morning. The men defeated Newfoundland and Labrador 100-72 Friday to earn the right to face Quebec. The women’s team play Manitoba for seventh spot. The team lost 78-75 in overtime to Nova Scotia Friday.

Team New Brunswick’s tennis players hit the Niagara-at-the-Lake tennis club courts against Newfoundland and Labrador for seventh place.

The soccer squad lost 6-1 to Alberta in Friday’s bronze medal match for a fourth-place finish. Men’s beach volleyball finished competition with a ninth placing. They defeated Northwest Territories

Women’s box lacrosse returns to home to New Brunswick with a seventh-place finish at the Games. The team defeated Saskatchewan 5-3 Friday. Women’s box lacrosse made its debut at the Canada Games in Niagara. Next week, men’s lacrosse returns to the Canada Games after a 37-year absence.

Swimming completed competition Friday with Alex Hussey and Xavier LeBouthillier finishing11th and 17th respectively in the men’s 3000 metre open water swim. OIivia Levesque and Jordan LeRoy finished 11th and 16th respectively in the women’s 3000 metre open water swim.

The triathlon event saw Team New Brunswick place 10th in the mixed team relay mix to complete their competition. The mountain bike sprints consisted of Emilie McIntyre, Laurence Arseneau and Vanessa Thomson finishing 12th, 15th and 17th respectively. In the men’s event, Anthony Arseneau, Noah Lydon and Antoine Lacombe completed it 17th, 20th and 25th respectively.

Baseball completed their play at the Canada Games placing eighth. The team lost to Manitoba 10-2 Friday.
