The following 50 projects share a total of $2 million from the Ministry of Francophone Affairs’ Francophone Community Grants Program, which aims to support the vitality of the Franco-Ontarian community.

The association is also looking to establish a community group to support newcomers through French-language services by means of partnerships with various Francophone organizations.

Faces of the Francophonie depicted in “Inclusion” murals

This project is undertaken by ACFO-SDG, in partnership with the Conseil scolaire catholique de l'Est ontarien and the Cornwall Community Museum. It aims to celebrate Ontario's Francophonie in all its diversity by creating portable murals on the theme of inclusion, following training provided by professional artists from various communities. These works will be shared between schools and the community. This project also involves making video clips chronicling the creation of the murals and their related colouring books.

Creation of the “A thousand Franco flavours” Festival

This is the first edition of a gastronomic festival to be held in Kingston. In collaboration with the Loving Spoonful, this project will celebrate the diversity and richness of Ontario’s Francophonie. The program includes a tasting competition, gourmet dishes from local regional restaurateurs, specialty foods and a recipe compilation.

Strengthening the Francophonie in the East and West of Northwestern Ontario

The project of the Association des francophones du Nord-Ouest de l'Ontario (AFNOO) aims to bring together Francophones from the towns of Ignace, Dryden, Sioux-Lookout, Vermilion Bay and Kenora (gathered under the Club Franco-Boréal), and Francophones from the towns of Terrace Bay, Marathon, Manitouwadge (gathered under Le club francophone du lac Supérieur). It will allow AFNOO to schedule activities in French and involve both clubs in activity planning and implementation.

The Auberge Francophone will organize a festival that brings together Francophone arts groups and the talents of Ontario Francophones from diverse cultural backgrounds. Through its varied program of songs and dances, this festival will showcase the Francophone artistic and cultural world. It will raise awareness among Francophones about the challenges of building an identity in a minority setting. This outdoor festival will highlight the beauty of the region and its cultural diversity. This will benefit all age groups, from young Ontarians to seniors.

In collaboration with the two French-language school boards and the Carrefour Interculturel de Peel-Halton, the Centre canadien pour l’unité de la famille (CCF) will expand its programming to offer a series of French-language workshops in various art disciplines for Francophone youth aged 12 to 17 from the Peel-Halton region. This project will celebrate their various cultures and the diversity of Francophone culture through the arts.

The project is being developed in partnership with ACFO WECK, the Conseil scolaire Viamonde, the Conseil scolaire catholique Providence and Entité 1.

The winter festival of the diverse Francophone community of London

This project proposes a series of traditional cultural activities highlighting Francophone, Franco-Ontarian and ethnocultural heritage. The Centre communautaire francophone de London will organize interactive activities in the greater London area in collaboration with these partners: Conseil scolaire Viamonde, Conseil scolaire catholique Providence, Collège Boréal, Table Franco-Info London and the surrounding counties and Carrefour Ethnoculturel Francophone de London. Francophones will participate in creating an intergenerational Christmas choir, in songwriting workshops and in concerts. A number of French-speaking ethnocultural communities will be represented in the performances: Belgium, Burundi, Rwanda, Cameroon, DRC, Haiti and the Maghreb.

This project will be used to develop and establish an innovative model against bullying and discrimination. The Coalition ontarienne de formation des adultes (COFA) and its three partners (Centre de formation Cochrane-Iroquois Falls, Carrefour de formation des adultes inc. and Centre Moi J'apprends) propose promotional activities to engage employers and other stakeholders by demonstrating the role and added value of literacy and basic skills training in economic recovery.

Academic training through play and entertainment

This project, in collaboration with Novocentre and Aiducation, aims to strengthen the feeling of belonging among young people from grades 1 to 12 of the local Francophone community in Thunder Bay. This involves providing learning resources and activities through games and entertainment outside of the school environment. The goal is to provide a place for young people in the community to gather, learn and live in a French environment outside of school, and to increase their sense of pride and belonging to their Francophonie.

Storytellers of diversified Francophone communities

This project will help CEPAP to produce a toolkit of stories from Haiti, Africa and Lebanon, and to train volunteers. This toolkit will include a collection of stories, a facilitator’s guide, activity books and evaluation files. These stories will be presented to students at four major events in Ottawa, Rockland and Cornwall by trained volunteers.

The project will also celebrate the vitality and artistic and entrepreneurial creations of Franco-Ontarian multicultural communities.

This project will help to create a culture that promotes inclusion, belonging, acceptance and that acknowledges the importance of each person’s contribution to building Franco-Ontarian society. It will offer a series of 85 workshops to young Francophones and Francophiles in the Windsor, London, Halton, Oshawa and Ottawa regions, in partnership with various community stakeholders, including Alto Media, the Conseil scolaire catholique Providence and the Conseil scolaire catholique Mon Avenir.

Consultation project for persons aged 50 and over on Francophone cultural and social programming.

This project will strengthen the capacity of FARFO Sud-Ouest and address the isolation of seniors. With the support of Entité 2 partners and the provincial FARFO, a series of workshops will be held to revitalize local clubs in Waterloo/Wellington, Hamilton/Burlington and Windsor and update their programs.

This project will enable the production of 90-second video clips highlighting twelve Francophone visual artists from Toronto. Environmental learnin in Francophone communities

This initiative will provide new teaching tools and resources to French-language schools in Ontario. The project will also develop three webinars to encourage teacher participation and one targeted workshop to be presented at the Youth Summit in February 2023. The Ontario Eco-Schools aim to create, enhance and develop a French-language educational resource for students from kindergarten to Grade 12. The schools are supported by their Francophone partners, CS Viamonde, the Conseil scolaire du nouvel Ontario, the Conseil scolaire de district catholique de l'est ontarien and Natural Resources Canada.

Healthy Schools Certification

Through this project, OPHEA will provide equitable access to online resources and consultation support to Ontario’s French-language schools participating in the Healthy Schools Certification program. A Francophone education consultant will be hired to work with Ontario’s French-language school boards. After more than two years of disruption caused by COVID-19, the project is intended to increase awareness and provide training to support the implementation of the program as a tool for mental health and well-being for Francophone students.

Promoting the inclusion of families of diverse backgrounds into Ontario school communities

In order to build an inclusive and diverse organizational culture within Parents Partenaires en Education and thus adequately meet the needs of all parents, the project aims to train PPE employees on diversity and inclusion. PPE will then work with Francophone school boards so that the newly trained employees on diversity and inclusion can in turn offer a series of workshops and/or trainings to parents and in school in Ontario.

Telling our stories

This project will make it possible for the museum to hire a bilingual outreach coordinator to enhance cultural events and exhibitions by providing French-language services and display panels. The coordinator will also work with the Centre polyvalent des aînés francophones de Port Colborne to launch an oral history project, a film festival focusing on oral history interviews, and also to develop a pop-up exhibition. These heritage resources will be used for programming in bilingual and Francophone schools, institutions and local service organizations during Heritage Week 2023.

Youth at the microphone: Radio initiation project

This project will allow students from French-language high schools in Ottawa and Eastern Ontario to benefit from professional coaching to produce programs on 94.5 Unique FM, Ottawa’s Francophone community radio station. The initiative is part of Unique FM's mandate to train the next generation of Franco-Ontarians in media. This project will help to hire a host, recruit participating teams and provide them with training workshops, resources and professional coaching to support them in preparing radio programs.

Renfrew County Francophone Job Creation 3.0

The purpose of the project is to help businesses promote the recruitment of Francophones by providing employers and new employees with French language training and with networking opportunities for both Francophones who have difficulty with English and for Anglophones who have difficulty providing services in French. The project also provides a wage subsidy to employers in Renfrew County who hire Francophones for full-time positions.

Réseau-femmes du sud-ouest de l'Ontario

Brief digital intervention for child witnesses of domestic violence

This project will enable Francophone children in Southwestern Ontario, 18 years of age and younger, to successfully mitigate and even eliminate the impact of domestic and community violence, specifically through a brief digital intervention. In partnership with the United Way, the project also aims to improve such French-language services in Sarnia, Windsor, Chatham and London, and in Southwestern Ontario.

Feuilles Vives 2022 - Hybrid Component

This project will present eight novel professional theatrical works in podcast format to the general public and to young Francophones in Ontario. Théâtre Action will collaborate with four professional Franco-Ontarian companies: Théâtre Catapulte in Ottawa, Théâtre français de Toronto, Théâtre du Nouvel-Ontario in Sudbury and Théâtre de la Vieille 17 in Ottawa.

The Théâtre français de Toronto (TfT) project aims to develop and build audience loyalty online and in person through, among other things, three new webcasts and the hiring of an audience development assistant for a six-month contract. This initiative aims to increase the number of subscribers to TfT's newsletters, to set up partnerships with associations likely to relay its activities to their communities and to promote the purchase and viewing of its webcast creations.

Poets’ Park

The purpose of this project is to showcase Eastern Ontario writers by displaying poetry in the new Parc du sentier Brisson. This outreach highlights Franco-Ontarian culture, pride and identity. The project requires extensive research to properly represent the artists of the region. The selected works will have a QR code providing access to additional content. The Municipality of Casselman will partner with the Prescott Russell Arts Council, the Prescott and Russell United Counties and South Nation Conservation.
