For information only: Made by the Lieutenant Governor in Council (O.C. 202/2020) on July 8, 2020 pursuant to section 27 of the Alberta Senate Election Act. Application 1 This Regulation applies to an election under the Alberta Senate Election Act that is to be held in conjunction with a general election under the Election Act. Forms 2(1) The form in the Schedule to this Regulation is prescribed for the purposes of the section of the Alberta Senate Election Act indicated on the form. (2) Notwithstanding subsection (1), forms required to be prescribed under the Alberta Senate Election Act that are not set out in the Schedule to this Regulation are to be prescribed by the Chief Electoral Officer. Term of a Senate Nominee 3 The term of a Senate nominee commences on the day the person is declared elected in accordance with the Alberta Senate Election Act and expires on the issuance of a writ under section 5(1)(b) of the Alberta Senate Election Act. To_______________, Chief Electoral Officer, Greeting: We command you that, notice of the time and place of election being given, you do cause an election to be held to elect ___________person(s) in accordance with the Alberta Senate Election Act as Senate nominee(s) who may be summoned to the Senate of Canada for the purpose of filling a vacancy or vacancies relating to Alberta, with nomination day of the election to be held on the date fixed for nominations for the next general election under the Election Act, and in the event of a poll being required you do cause a poll to be taken on the date fixed for voting for the next general election under the Election Act and you do cause the name(s) of the Senate nominee(s) so elected to be certified to the President of the Executive Council.
