Bodhi Day: Statement from Minister Yaseen
“Today, Mahayana Buddhists in Alberta will meditate and reflect on the path of enlightenment.
“More than 2,500 years ago, Siddhartha Gautama taught the Four Noble Truths and the Eightfold Path and attained enlightenment, becoming the Buddha. Today, Buddhists will light candles and incense in their temples and their homes representing the purity of life. They will decorate Bodhi trees with lights and ornaments to symbolize the many paths to awakening.
“To everyone celebrating, may you continue on your path to Bodhi through daily acts of kindness, generosity and compassion in keeping with the practices of the Eightfold Path.
“Happy Bodhi Day!”
