Offshore Pacific Area of Interest advisory committee
Why we are consulting
The Offshore Pacific Area of Interest advisory committee was brought together by DFO in September 2017 to consult on the proposal to designate the Offshore Pacific Area of Interest (AOI) as a Marine Protected Area (MPA).
Who we are consulting with
This committee is built with representation from Indigenous groups, federal, provincial and local governments, and stakeholders including fishing, conservation and academia.
What is the focus of this consultation
Some of the key tasks of the Offshore Pacific Area of Interest advisory committee are to: provide input and feedback on biophysical, socio-economic and resource assessments; provide advice on key issues, and risks; advise on the development of the regulatory intent; and inform engagement planning related to the proposed MPA designation.
When
The advisory committee will be in effect until the Offshore Pacific Marine Protected Area designation.
